I am going to buy a rear blade for a 3020. I had always thought I would get a medium duty 7 footer. But the other day I measured the width of my rear end (No!! the tractor's.) The wheels are almost all the way in and it is 7 1/2 feet wide. Would I be wise to get an 8 foot blade? I want it for moving driveway rock and dirt. Thanks for any thoughts,
Joe

If you are doing angle grading, get the largest heavy duty blade you can afford. If you don't get a blade heavy enough to handle the tractor then the tractor will break or bend the blade the first time you hang a stump or concrete block.

Joe, it has always appeared to me that a blade should be as wide, or wider than the tractor. I have used blades narrower than the tractor and it just doesn't work as well as when they are are wider. When you are trying to blade a windrow of dirt or other material further out, you have to run on or outside the windrow with the tractor tire, thus raising that side of the tractor. You can see why this is not good. If you can afford it, the blades with the hydraulic tilt and angle are great. Good luck.
