Would a ventilating pump have enough pressure,or vacuum to either blow,or suck the block base gasket in--or out?---Last year I did some engine work & didn't have a problem, didn't even leak or seep--I used permatex copper spray on both the head gasket and base gasket, this year after engine work I ran the tractor for a while, and didn't see any leak--then after some plowing I noticed oil dripping from the left side of the block,I started taking it apart last night---got the frame pulled ahead enough to see the base gasket had a chunk missing. Thanks---Jim

The problem isn't your ventilating pump, it's your gasket sealer. My friend and I recently Did a head job on a Farmall M wsing the same sealer. It worked great until we put a load on it. Then we lost the seal on the intake, head, and thermostat. We took it all apart and it was pretty obvious to see that our sealer had failed due to the heat. We put it back together using Aviation form-a-gasket and haven't had any problems since. hope this helps.
