Why hold down on 3point lever lift

I bought a 430 and hooked 2 bottom plow to try the tractor out. It did real welll and the draft control worked well. However the depth control lever wants to rise; I have to hold it in place or it will come up and the plow comes out of the ground. I noticed a piece of bailing wire on the depth control bracket to hold the lever in place I would guess.

Will the upper link pin placement cause the problem I have or is the problem internal?

What do you think?

I you are referring to the two hydraulic (touch o matic) control levers, they both control hydraulics.

the draft is adjusted in the rear of the tractor manually.

The lever creep can be fixed by installing new friction disks in the lever assembley.

Henry, My tractor only has the single lever which controls the 3 point hitch. When the plow is in the ground, the lever pushs up against my hand.

The upper link can fit in one of three holes on the attachment, the one on the top is less sensitive to draft and the bottom is highly sensitive. I had the upper link pinned to the bottom. Maybe it was too sensitive and I should have moved it to the top. What do you think?

I still think all you have is a worn out friction disk pack at the base of the lever. On a dual model it is three cork washers and you can replace them without getting into the unit - just by taking the lever assy apart.

We have a steady rain and my books are in the barn (I know that is a sorry excuse), If you have any questions on how to go about that give me an email.

I really think that will fix it like new

good luck
