Does anyone know how to adjust the clutch on a JD 111 riding mower? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I don't have time tonight to give detailed instructions, but there is an idler pulley, on the left side if I remember correctly. Nut is on the bottom. Check with the clutch engaged (belt tightened) and disengaged (clutch down and brake set and locked) and you can determine the required movement. My lower seal was leaking by the time I tightened it so it was a bit grimy in there. If this is insufficient post back or mail and I will go looking for my service manual.

Yes, there is an adjustment on the idler, but I am going to start over. From my single experience if you adjust the belt it will break in a couple of years. Might as well go through the pain now and have it over with. First time I did adjusted it by feel, second time I took the mower off, hoised the front in the air about 3 feet, replaced the belt and then adjusted it. That way you can finish the job without last years clippings in your face. If you send your mailing address to the above E-Mail I will send you a good Xerox of the adjustment procedure, and if you desire the belt change procedure.
