I'd remove the thermostat and run it without one to see if it boils over then. If it does you should check to see if you need to rod the radiator again. I would also boil the thermostat on the stove and check to see that it opens fully at it's rated temperature.

I recently had the pleasure of working on a Diesel Le-Roi air compressor that had such problems. Rodded the radiator myself and back flushed the block until I got clear water. Back together it didn't take long before it was running too hot again. Draining the water revealed that there was some rotten piece of plastic getting chewed up by the water pump into just the right size chunks to then wedge into the radiator tubes, so I had to rod it again. This time it went back together with a homemade 'sock' inside the top radiator hose some two feet long that caught even more of those pieces and saved me from yet another rodding. Never did find the source of the plastic, but did wind up with less and less of it in the removable/cleanable sock eventually. Sometimes it's just NOT in the books, so you're forced to wing it on your own.

Did you check the thermostat for being in the correct way, that will make it run hot if it is backwards the water gan not circulate. Some have ben put in wrong.

How much sediment do you think might be laying in the cylinder block..??? I just overhailed my 630 that ran fine, and found the lower part of the cylinders were laying in about a FULL inch of sediment...!! Since I had the head off, it was not hard to flush it out with a hose and a prodding wire... If you take the lower water inlet off, and use a power washer to spray into the head and cylinder block ( from the top of the block too), I would think you might be surprised how much crap will come out...!! Are you sure your thermostat is opening..??? It should be open at 170 degrees...you should see water moving if you look in the radiator cap opening, when it reaches 170... Keep us posted on what you find..!!!

Ron.

Put a pressure tester on the radiator and check for high pressure indicating a blown head gasket. Did you check the timing ?

Is the water circulating when the tractor is running? Have you checked the temperature with a known good guage?I have run into water pumps that the impeller spins on the shaft. Also you could have a bad guage giving you a false reading.
