On my 720, there are beads of solder that are brasied onto the metal of the gear shift quadrant. Each slot has 1 bead on them...it is on the inside where the gear shift lever would run between the cutouts...why would this be there...to get into 1st gear, you have to tap the dear lever over to get into gear.
Any idea what they are for?

WE USED TO WELD BEADS ON THE INSIDE CORNERS OF THE QUADRANT WHEN WE WOULD LOOSE THE SHIFTER DURING A RANGE CHANGE(SIDE TO SIDE) WHEN THE SHIFTERS WERE WORN OUT. DON

is it possible that someone had problems with it jumping out of gear and did this to hold lever in? Paul
