I have a 730 diesel and it sat for about a week before I decided to use it and when I checked the endine oil it was way too full almost to the threaded part of the dipstick. The oil does not smell like diesel. Can oil be coming from the transmission leaking into the engine? I have not loosened the drain plug yet to check for water in the oil but I will. Thanks for any help.

Jim, you ask..

Quote: "Can oil be coming from the transmission leaking into the engine?" >>>

_Yes, but not easily.. Check the transmission & see if it's also overfull, if not, that probably isn't your problem..

_That should be the first step.. You really need to know what liquid has raised the oil level to know where to start looking..

~Check ALL the other fluid levels & anything you find low suspect that is the problem area.. Post back if you find a low oil level in one of the other systems & we can help you find the causes..

Hydraulic or power steering system oil can migrate to the crankcase, also.
