One of the lift cylinders on my loader is leaking quite badly and I need to rebuild it. I have a kit but I can't figure out how to get the thing apart. Does anyone have any advise?

I rebuild my 148 cylinders myself. Once you take the snap ring off of the ram end you need to drive the sleeve that the snapring was on in to you see another snapring inside the tube. Remove that one and then pull the cylinder apart. Might have to use a couple trees and a comealong. Then repair as needed, the inside of the tube were the snapring goes usually needs a little emery so when you go together you don't cut the new seals.

Hey, thanks for the tip. I took off the visible snap ring, used a punch to move the piece that housed that ring into the cylinder and found the second ring, a round snap ring on the ID of the cylinder. It came off quite easily with a small screwdriver and needle nose plyers. As far as removing the piston and rod my friend suggested hooking the cylinder back onto the tractor hydraulics and blow the thing out the end. I did that and it worked great. I was going to plug the rod end before the piston made it to that port but found I didn't need to. I now have it apart, will be replacing seals tomorrow and reinstalling.
Thanks!
