Call Green magazine for a subscription and the July 2004 back issue. The model 60 is featured this month. Tons of info on parts suppliers too.

Link for the certificate. You"ll need it for proof it"s a real $$$ orchard tractor. The 60 orchards were built from Aug 1953 to Feb 1957. The 620 orchard was then built right through to the end of the 30 series/two cylinder era. Yours was built in or near Aug 1954.

Thanks again. Now that I have things in motion I want to try and get it running. First, do I use detergent or non-detergent oil? I want to drain the fuel tank but my model doesn't have a fuel shut off control on the dash. There is a small line tee at the sediment bowl and one line goes to the crankcase the other to the oil pressure gauge!!!,plus the fuel delivery line to the carb, when I disconnect the line at the carb, nothing comes out. Also it is a 12 Volt system with two six volt batteries,is it negative or positive ground and how are the batteries hooked up,there hasn't been batteries in there for years..Thanks...John...

The tractor equiped with the low pressure oil shut off which #1 prevents the fuel tank from draining into the engine should the carb float/needle valve stick open. #2 it will shut the engine down should oil pressure be lost while running. Lucky you, those outfits are $274.00 plus tax to retro-fit onto tractors without them. The hole in the dash is there should the all-fuel valve handle would be,had the all-fuel option been ordered. It's just a decoy on your tractor. As a kid I used ask my Father why his 60 had that hole there. All Deeres with 6V or 12V generators were positive ground. Battery covers on there or have they gone awol? My Grandfather hurled the battery covers and anything else safety related off his similar 60 low seat standard and the attached buzz saw. Shell Rotella 15W40 is tough to beat. Lube oil and gasoline questions are a good way to start a spirited discussion here!!! There are literally 100's of answers to questions in the operator's,owners & parts manuals. Call 1-800-522-7448 before going too much farther. There was a book written by J.R. Hobbs on the Deere 1st numbered series. Tough to find at shows and e-bay but an excellent read/explanation. Do a search on F.I.T.'s lye gravey and electrolysis. Clean, safe, fast effective removal of that paint and rust.
