As I understand, that is pretty much the nature of the beasts. At least all my hand start JD's are that way. That is why the old farmers would start em up in the morning and not shut them down until they were through with them in the evening.

The DRL post has merit. I just came inside from starting my 35 B which was warm. Took me about 15 compression strokes of the flywheel, what normally takes me less than 3 to start when "cold" (which is still plenty warm in Florida).

I think they flood VERY easily expecially when warm....and especially without compression releases like the early unstyled ones.

I had a similar problem with one of my G's. The thing would flood very easily, even with no choke when hot.

In my case it was the seal under the gas cap...which was home made and too thick. The tank would pressurize and force fuel into the carb. Once I got rid of the rubber gasket and put a cork gasket in it, starting was much easier.

A simple thing that you may want to take a look at.

I solved the problem with my '42B by turning off the fuel at the strainer and letting the tractor quit by running out of gas, that made re-starting the tractor later much easier.
Hope it works for you,
Matt
