I hate to double post but I haven't gotten any advice in the backhoe forum. Does anyone know if I can remove the harmonic balance/pulley from a JD 310 backhoe without removing the rad and hyd pump? The threads for the "joint balls" are about shot. Thanks!

if i am not mistaken, the 310 is pretty much built like 1020.
if so, to remove the pulley you have to remove the radiator and the pump drive. the pump can stay if you get a puller short enough to fit the gap.
in some utility models there is not enugh space to the pulley to be removed. in this case tractor needs to be separated between engine and front end. (look for a 2 inch gap between the pulley and front support housing which should be enough for pulley removal).
