On a 60 the governor doesn't want to pull the engine down to an idle. When hard pulling the engine seems to have lots of power and runs nice but when I try to stop and idle down the engine continues to run fast even if the throttle is in the idle position. I have to slightly engage the clutch to idle it down. Where do i start? thanks I really enjoy this board.

Jim, there is a whole series of throttle rod & rod nut gap adjustments as well as a governor arm cap screw to spring adjustments & even a service bulletin on some adjustment changes..

I don’t have the time to type it all out right now & even if I did would probably forget a step.. If I get a chance later tonight I will try to pull the service bulletin up & E-Mail it to you.. I’m going to be real busy tonight & gone most of the weekend again [show season you know] so it could possibly be early next week if I can’t easily find that adjustment bulletin when I get home..

In the mean time make sure your throttle linkage operates smoothly when operated by hand & look for signs of any problems at the linkage pivot points.. You might also look for loose nuts on the front throttle linkage…
