I knew I shoulda got ready for our Lions Club Dinner instead of mowing late this afternoon grrrrr . Two Cylinder problems in One Day so its still a 2 cylinder related story, sort of ??

(A) One Cylinder: I got on my Economy Power King which I use to mow pasture fence rows,,,,, ,,,,, ,,, hit the electric clutch switch to engage the deck,,,,, ,,,,, ,, heard all sorts o (*&^%$ and the mower drive belt broke n was flopping like crazy,,,,, ,,,,, ,,caused a leak in bottom of the metal gas tank,,,,, ,,,,, hit the switch in a panic to turn it off,,,,, ,, switch broke off,,,,, ,,,,turned key n got her shut down,,,,, ,,,,,now parts of the belt got twisted/wedged tighter than dicks hat band between the pulley n clutch front and I cant pull it out whatsoever (Im talkin big time stuck/wedged) and of course, removing the big center bolt which screws into the crank end does NOTHING. Got flustered n quit, at least its parked in front of shop.

(B) Second Cylinder: Got on my 24 HP custom home made Zero Turn Lawn mower (made from a Dixon and a Grazer and a Gilson mower parts layign around shop) it has a single horizontal shaft 12 HP Briggs just to drive the two hydraulic turning motors PLUS another out front vertical shaft 12 HP Briggs to run the deck. Went out in pasture and was doing great n it stopped suddenly and sounded like (*&^%%$#. Tried to restart but solenoid just clicked,,,,, ,,,,,jumped around solenoid direct but starter motor still just clicked,,,,, ,,,raised cover and saw this huge HOLE in side of block. I STRONGLY SUSPECT THAT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT, YA THINK??? Plus its about as far from shop as can get and you cant hardly push or pull it anywhere Grrrrr rrrrr rrrrr r

When it rains it pours I reckon. Oh well it aint nuttin money cant fix. I had a law client call who needs some deeds n contracts n other work who happens to own a lawn mower dealersahip, so I guess I will approach him to do his work in exchange for a new 12 HP Horizontal shaft engine maybe.

Thanks for lettin me rant n rave, its just not been my day, but as they say in a Jimmy Buffett Song "If it all blows up n goes to hell, think of all the stories we can tell" I will have some to tell at Lions tonight and it kinda hurts my pride that Im gonna have to borrow a neighbors lawn mower to mow grass lol.

God Bless yall

John T

I feel much better guys, thanks for lettin me vent but after that great meal and came home to a cold barley soda (a batch of home brew my son made a while back) Im more relaxed lol. There are some older grandmother type wives in the club and (*&^%%$# they are good cooks, we had fresh from the garden green beans, corn, watermelon, strawberry pie all homemade from Dorothys garden) I have a law job in the AM but after that Im gonna pull that engine out, remove the pulleys, n call that lawn mower man to get an engine ordered then she oughta purr like a kitten in a creamery. PS Im still faithful to my Engineering Alma Mater Purdue, its just that only IU had the law stuff so I had to break ranks n bite the bullet.

Take care

John T

Just had to needle you a little bit about that Engineering/Law thing. Probably a good combination at that, I would say.

Have a good day and keep your hands clean - LOL!

John T - Sorry to hear of your problems, as you have helped so many, including me on this board. Last night after work I was mowing 25 acres of heavy garbage with my CASE-IH, in driving frog choking Florida rain, when the hydro shift decited to not work. It would run , but as soon as the inching pedal was pushed in and let out, it would kill a 100 hp engine! Something is royally screwed up! Today, I fiddled with wires and added fluid and somehow got the job done. (Should have used one of my old JD"s!) When I finished tonight, it was bleading transmission fluid real bad. Tomorrow night I"ll limp it home and fight with reparing it over the weekend. John T...you can"t have all the fun!!!

Sorry to hear about problems. Like I always tell my Mother, at least no one got hurt. Better to hurt the billfold than the body. Wish I lived near you I'd come and mow it for you.Take care and better luck ahead.

John,

I'd guess you believe in divine retribution. In this case, I think it's punishment for going to that "Small College in Southern Indiana" for a law degree. You'd have been alright if you had been satisfied with the Engineering education you received at "The University in Indiana".

Have a good one,

Stan

John: Consider yourself lucky, our town council just passed an ordinance declaring that all attorneys/lawyers/barristers in our community who "pass away" have to be buried twelve feet down, because "deep down" they are really good guys !! Cheers and better luck mowing1 Jim
