We recently purchased a 1952 styled A, and the carburetor is in sad shape. We want to replace it, but don't know the exact type/model of carburetor that was used. Can anyone help? thanks.

John, There were 5 different carburetors on those A's. Your 52 A should have a DLTX-71 if it is a gas motor and a DLTX-72 if it is an all fuel motor. Go to John Deere and get a parts manual. It will give you all the serial number breaks. Those parts catalogs are well worth the money.

You can get a rebuilt carburetor right here on this sight (exchange) for $255.00. On the left menu, click on shop for parts, select JD, select carburetors and scroll down the vast selection of carburetors.

John,
If your '52A is has a gasoline engine it came with a Marvel Schebler DLTX-71, and if it has an all-fuel engine it came with a DLTX-72. Most any DLTX carb will bolt up, but the above carbs are designed for those engines.

Will a DLTX34 carburetor bolt up to a '52 styled A? Thanks.

'52 A should have a Marvel-Schebler DLTX-71 although others may fit, this is what it had on it when it was new.

It would be one of these 3 a DLTX 53 or 18 or 33 depending on year and fuel
