JD AR serial number question

I have a 1937 AR. Serial number 254590. I think it may be a AO. It has the AO hood and tow ring on the front. But does not have the turning brakes. It has the regular AR exhaust and air inlet. In all the lists I have seen, they lump AR's and AO's together. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks very much,
John

Congratulations you are the proud owner of an “AR” the first give away is that you don’t have turning brakes. All “AO” tractors where equipped with turning brakes and the “AR” was equipped with a service brake. Now an “AR” could be ordered with turning brakes as special equipment. Also another and most important give away is according to J. R. Hobbs in his book, “The John Deere Unstyled Letter Series”, which I would recommend to all collectors as required reading material, production of the “AO” was canceled in late 1936 and replaced by the “AOS”. Production of the “AO” was reinstated in 1941 as the “AOS had not sold well enough to be economically viable as a stand-alone model.
