Jeffrey, Theres a chance it may need a new crank seal and/or run the flywheel in to get rid of any excess end play first n see what happens??? You have to loosen the big flywheel bolts and we have one guy hold a sledge over on the clutch drive disk big end bolt while a guy at the flywheel uses an oak block and hammer to take it in to within 0.010 of end play. NOTE if the flywheel bolts appear stretched or damaged, get new bolts. You may need a flywheel wrench to get at and torque those big flywheel bolts !!! Depending on what tractor, many have a cork (I think some later ones used a neoprene type seal????) seal located inside that D shaped housing behind the flywheel on the tractors side where the crank comes through. We remove the flywheel,,,,,the D shaped housing,,,,, ,,soak the new seal in warm oil to soften it up,,,,, ,,,clean/polish the crank in the sealing area nice n smooth,,,,, ,,,install the new cork seal and oil slinger,,,,, ,,reinstall the flywheel on the same correct spline it came off of THATS IMPORTANT, GET IT BACK ON CORRECT SPLINE,,,,, ,,,be sure n get the flywheels lil inner tip into the open notch in the oil slinger (its in the D housing),,,,, ,,,,run the flywheel in to within 0.010 end play,,,,, ,,,torque the flywheel back down and repeAt after some running. Flywheels aint my cup of tea or what I like working on lol, but this may get you going until others offer more detailed tips n opinions of what your problem might be. Let us know, Good luck n God Bless John T
