Anybody know what the lift capacity is of a 3 point on a JD 720 D? Also, if I have a bale fork etc and the bale is out on the ned of the fork, does this affect the capacity?

I have weigths on my front end, so that should not be a limiting factor.

Not much I can answer here, but can on the weight. The rock shafts will generate a certain torque limit. Torque is equal to Force (weight) times radius from the rotating point. Therefor you can lift twice the weight say two feet fromt he rotating point (rock shaft) that you can four feet from the rotating point. This is true for any mechanism that rotates. Front loaders are other good examples where you want to get the heavy loads as close to the loader pivot as possible.

I know for a fact that it will pick up over 2500 lbs. We have a homemade weight rack that we built to carry wheel and suitcase weights on and the weights alone weigh over 2200 lbs. The rack has to weigh around 300+ lbs. The 720 diesel w/ square wide front end and 3 piece front weights will carry it fully loaded, but needs more weight on the front. At least 1/3 of the load is within 2 feet of the attaching point and the other 2/3 is spread out over another 3 feet. I wouldn't make a habit of lifting that kind of weight with it though.

The farther out you go away from the ball ends of the hitch the less you will be able to lift. I know you can at least lift 1500 lbs as I lifted a big generator set on mine with a set of forks made to fit on the three point so I was pretty close to the tractor.
