I would like to know the number of holes in a 37 AR seat. I've been looking through old photos and have noticed a number of different seats on these old tractors. Also did any of the AR's come with AO hoods on them. I read somewhere that the BR's could have been ordered with a BO hood.
Thanks Much for the info,
John

John I was interested in your post, because I also have a 1937 AR S/N 254287, which I am restoring. Do you have any pictures ? I have questions if you have had yours apart.

Thanks

Hi Michael,
Just bought my AR S/N 254590 a few weeks ago. It is an older restoration. The paint job on the fenders and hood is just average though. The engine was rebuilt. It does run and start good. Someone way back put an AO hood on it. I am going to replace it next summer. It has F&H round spoke wheels. I don't have any photos yet. John

I will look forward to seeing your pictures. I may have just committed a sin. I posted part of my tractor in the Tractor Photos to show my progress. Search: Michael Phillips

The pan seat, 24 hole, made by US Pressed Steel Company was used on the AR from the start of production in 1935 until mid 1937. The bucket seat, 9 hole, made by the Ingersoll Company would go into effect around May 12, 1937 according to decision 6970.
John in regards to your second question it’s time for you to invest in a hood, air stack and muffler if you want to make your 1937 AR look correct. In all of the reading I have done regarding AR/AO and BR/BO tractors, and I have done a lot, no AR or BR tractors where shipped with orchard hoods. Remember that the most visible difference between regular and orchard tractors was the air intake and on the muffler on the AR. Please refer back to your post of September 11, I would still recommend you pick up a copy of J. R. Hobbs book, “The John Deere Unstyled Letter Series” it will go a long way in answering some of your questions.
