A friend gave me what looks like a rebuilt generator for an old John Deere tractor. Can anyone tell me what models it fits, Delco pn is 1100361. Also if its 6 or 12 volt. Thanks in advance for your help.

Jimbo,
According to SM2029, the electrical service manual, your generator was a 12V generator used on the 45 and 55 series combines with the HA-155 or 232 power units.

You sure it isn't off a 145(early 45) or 165( later square back model) and 217 engines.Deere never made a 155 or a 232 power unit that I am aware of.The 217 was also used on early 95 model combines except they ran at 2500 rpm with the 217 used on the 55 running at 1900 rpm.Deere however did make a 248 diesel engine.

Bubba,
I was quoting a table from SM2029 - I'm not very familiar with Deere power units other than the W and LU series. However, I do have a parts book for a HA-155-D unit (PC-624, Feb 1959), and a parts book for the 55 combine (PC-653, Nov 1964) lists the "232 engine" for 55-57001 - 55-60000. These power units are also listed in the Service Publications Catalogs, so they must exist.

SM2029 lists a 45 combine with a HA-145 power unit, but it uses a 1100038 6V generator. The 55, 65, and 95 combines are listed with a 217 power unit, but they use a 1100341 12V generator.
