"how long should I expect" - Probably nobody has responded yet because that is a terribly hard question to answer. It depends on your experience, tools available, how many friends are over, and how much beer is involved. This probably will not be a one weekend project because almost certainly something else will be found to be wrong, broken off, or completely missing. Count on a couple trips to the John Deere dealer. To put things in your favor, it would be a good idea to get hold of the Model B Tractors Service Manual SM-2004 and the accompanying parts catalog PC-330. As far as the crankcase flushing, it is not a bad idea to drain the oil, fill with kerosene, turn the engine over by hand, then drain again. Put in a new oil filter afterward.
