4430-40 exhaust manifold will fit on head but like mentioned before you have to do some hood modifications , you don't want to cut a hole in a nice old 4020 hood . M&W setups are the way to go but they are getting hard to find nowdays . On my old 4020 I have the M&W manifold , Schwitzer 3LD 279 turbo , that is the turbo used on 12-1456 IH engines , 4440 intake manifold and camshaft , .370 head on injection pump , stock lines and I have the old style big Bendix injectors , they were used on 4010 and 1964 4020's , mine is a 1964 with powershift . I also have the M&W 20qt aluminum oil pan and the M&W fan and shroud kit . I run it at 120-25hp for farming and when I go pulling it will put out 200-220hp , I have seen it at 210 on an A&W dyno more than once , but I don't hold her there for very long . I have the stock Deere 3 ring pistons and sleeves . The so called farm stock classes we pull in are limited to 3000rpm .

Have you considered looking for an "M&W" manifold from thier turbo kit?

Yes, the manifold bolt and port patterns are similar and the 4440 manifolds will bolt to the 4010 head. However, if installing a turbo (as it sounds like you're contemplating), there will probably be hood clearance issues.

Yes I am planning to put a turbo on, any suggestions for the right size turbo to get me 150-175+ horsepower? Tractor has the 4020 upgrade. Any suggestions in dealing with hood clearance issues? Are there any other manifolds that are a better fit? I would like one that will flow as much air as possible, but still fit under the hood. Want to tractorpull farm classes next summer, won't be farming with it. Any others pointers concerning injectors, and pumps and the right manifolds to use you might have would also be appreciated.

i wish you the best i had a 4010 with a 404t engine that was tough but i was dq'ed everywere i went, good luck, go with the m&w kit much better to work with will flow good amount of air, and will push your engine to its limits with the right turbo fuel etc. good luck

I've seen 4020s with M&W kits turn 150 horsepower, so that may be the way to go rather than screwing around with the newer manifolds and fighting hood clearance issues. I've seen on 4010 with a 4320 engine in it that had a "barn" built on the hood to clear the turbocharger. It was just fabbed and welded out of sheetmetal and was made to fit nice and smooth. The whole hood was then painted gloss black, as those guys run black hoods on all their Deeres. You're also going to have to supply the turbo with pressurized engine oil and find a place to drain it to. I'd say finding a good M&W kit would be far easier in the long run, if you're only after 150 horsepower.
