Located a JD "D" 1927 model...stuck but complete...nice round spoke front rims...flat spoke rear rims...has pto added on behind flywheel? Is the Pto original to JD or an add on? has fenders in fair shape...sheetmetal fair.
WHat's this poor girl worth...is it worth fixing or is it better/cheaper to get a running "D". It has a solid flywheel....is that correct?

I am in the process of restoring a 1927 D. Ours has the pto behind the flywheel. The PTO was an option from JD. I paid $500 for ours. It was complete, fenders shot, hood is 100% dent free and the engine was loose. But the transmission is completely shot and so we bought a donor tractor so that we can change out all of the shafts, bearings, and gears. It will also need new push rods, cam shaft, and cam shaft followers plus a new steering assembly and possibly a better fron axle which I am hoping the donor tractor will provide. Our D has the small front axle and the donor D has the big front axle. If I change axles it won't be correct but then I don't care either. Reason why this tractor was so worn out was because it had loader on it. I don't know what a restored D from the late 20s is worth. If you want the experience and joy of bringing something back to life then it IS worth fixing the D you talk about.
