Has anyone used a 6 X 4 Gator for snow plowing?
Enough power but front end tends to drift toward angle of plow. Whats the trick, if one, to keep her in a straight line?

Would be easier to use for light snow rather then pulling tractor out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Joe, Just guessing I would say your best bet would be to weight her down as much as possible. I have heard guys say the 4x6 Gator is hard to steer especially when weighted heavily over the drive wheels, is that true?

The John Deere Gator Utility Vehicle family has improved ""steering"", specifically during loaded Situations. All Gator models have this change that will allow for additional operator control. The improvement will be most noticeable on fully-oaded 6X4 models. The A-Arms on all Gators have been modified in order to make this ""steering"" improvement. The following is a serial number breakdown of the Gator Utility Vehicles that will have this change: 4X2 Gators beginning with serial number W004X2X038489 6X4 Gators beginning with serial number W006X4X038606 6X4 Diesel Gators beginning with serial number W006X4D009699 Turf Gators beginning with serial number W00TURF006544

I copied this from some other info.. if you buy an A frame for the earlier machines they sub to a set of A frames and bushings... They do have problems when loaded... I guess you could remove one front set of rear wheels.. but it will have a poor turning radius..
Good Luck

Thanks for info. The problem only exists when pushing snow. Amount of load in dump does not affect steering. The snow pushes the gator sideways due to lack of weight in front (I think).
I might try putting tire chains on front wheels to see if that helps. Was hoping someone found a cure for this. --Back to the tractor I guess.
