I have ordered some steel lugs for him (in Nebraska) and after the first shipping attempt got lost (FedEx), he said he would ship another by UPS. The first order was the first part of December and the reship was 2 weeks ago. I have emailed and left messages on his phone but I haven't been able to get tracking information. Has anyone done business with him?

I have heard both good and bad about him. I am leaning toward the latter. Have had two dealings with him. Both times he was high bidder on a tractor I had on Ebay. The first he finally emailed me about a month and a half later and said he had been on the road and didnt need the tractor now. Fine with me, and went on, shortly after that i noticed he got a negative feedback on that ebay ID (deerepartsne) and then right after that he created a new ebay Id (bvf-equipment)and started buying and selling under it, It went good for about the last 5 or 6 months, then right after the first of the year i noticed his feedback was made private, click on it and it shows 2 negatives and a neutral. and now he was high bidder on another tractor auction of mine , he emailed and said he would come pickit up and pay for it then, then he called a few days later or so after it was over and said his truck was in the shop and it would be the week after xmas or the week after that before he could come pay for it and pick it up. I Havent heard a thing since, sent numerous emails and tried his cell, no response,I have sent ebay auction payment reminders and now I have filed a non-paying bidder claim with Ebay and I have to wait till next week before I can auction the R on steel again. i probably wont leave negative feedback because I dont want any retaliation. I know things happen, but sometimes they happen because of the way business is done. My 2 cents.

I don"t usually go public with bad news but I too have had several missed phone calls, non response on e-mail and am still waiting to have the JD G I bought from NebraskaCowman in January delivered. Initial contact was 11 Jan 05 and Brian stated it would be $0.75 per loaded mile but he couldn"t get it for about a month since he had a run to Texas and one to California. Agreed that would work and sent him the check which he cashed. It is now 4 March and nothing but a promise. Last e-mail transmission (24 Feb 05) said "Sorry I have been gone. I am planning this run this next week. We had to have some major work done on the truck and had to argue with the warranty company. Sorry about this. I will get it done asap. I will call him and let him know this too." As of this moment, still no contact with either me or NebraskaCowman. Bottom line--have paid for a move that has only had promises and I"m imposing on the generosity of the NebraskaCowman in holding the G. Wish I could be more positive as he seems like a great guy but the patience has worn thin and we need to get the tractor out of Howards barn.

We seem to be having the same problem at the same time with Brian--I wonder if there"s another explanation, such as an accident or family emergency. It just doesn"t make sense that he would do this intentionally, given the good will he is trying to develop in the area.

elcajonfarms was right as we suspected--there was more to the story. Got a call from Brian last night and his Dad has really been sick. That combined with the hassle he had with the warranty on his truck has him pretty well maxed out. He had another driver making the run to California for him (with his rig) this week and when the truck gets back in, he will be headed East with the G and will bring it himself. Glad Brian and his rig aren't in a ditch somewhere--also glad he called and let us know what was happening. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his Dad. Wanted to make sure I put all the facts on the table so this one didn't end up hanging out there unresolved.

Well here it is 15 April and not one word, no returned phone calls, and no returned e-mail. Has anyone else heard from Brian?

Just happened to check the board, and see all the frustrated posts from 4/15/05. Here's my story--you can decide for yourself whether this indicates that he is a larcenous con-man or just an irresponsible and nonresponsive individual. As previously posted, I sent Brian Vickers 1/2 cash down via PayPal (over $600) to move my 1950 JD B from Iowa to California, and then all of a sudden (once the payment went through) he went into total radio silence. After numerous efforts to contact him by telephone voicemail and email over several weeks, all of which were ignored, I filed a complaint with PayPal. All of a sudden, I got a series of very contrite emails from him and he promised a refund (since I had already arranged for another shipper and already had the tractor in hand); all he wanted was for me to remove the complaint from PayPal. I replied that I would be pleased to do so as soon as he sent the refund, and even sent him my office address so he could Fed Ex the refund overnight and I could remove the complaint the next day. He told me his check was already in the mail. Surprise, surprise, no check came the next day (or ever) but PayPal did contact me and tell me that since my $600+ payment was for a service rather than a tangible item, their complaint process did not apply (which turns out to be a true statement), so they wished me well and removed the complaint from Brian Vickers' account. Needless to say, I have never heard from him again and he has ignored all of my subsequent efforts to contact him. This guy is nothing but bad news and but for the fact I'm 1600 miles away, I would take legal action against him (and still might). This forum is not for badmouthing people, but I don't see anything in my email that could be considered "badmouthing", it's just the truth. Fortunately, there are a lot of trustworthy haulers out there, both professionals and fellow hobbyists, and the YT Forum is still a good place to find help when one needs it.

Bought an early A John deere spoke wheel on ebay in march from a guy in Ill. It was located in Brians Shop in Nebraska. Wheel cost me $560, I was set up get delivery from Brian as he was supposedly making a trip to California in the middle of March. Paid Brian $150 to deliver as I live just west of Flagstaff Az on I-40, all he had to do was get it to an exit by my house. Never came, lost 560 plus the 150 I gave Brian. Ought to be a law or we should go back to the tar and feather period. Would cost me more than that to make at least 2 trips to Nebraska. But I would like to give him $710 worth of hospital bills.

I agree with you and have no intentions of trying to ruin or add a blemish to a hardworking persons reputation. Had hoped he wasn't in an accident or a family emergency but with continued silence, its extremely frustrating to keep wondering whats going on. When I don't have all the facts its difficult to swallow unreturned phone calls, unanswered e-mails, and unfulfilled promises. Could understand it if my check had bounced but it cleared the bank quite awhile ago and it was for the full price of the move. I hate to keep imposing on the Nebraska Cowman who has been a real team player here holding the G.

I have had the same experience with a John Deere B I'm trying to get hauled from Iowa to California--Brian responded to my earlier post, was very courteous and responsive until I sent him 1/2 payment via paypal, then a series of delays based on weather, truck trouble, then a promise to "pick up tomorrow and deliver next week" and now 2-1/2 weeks of not responding to voicemails or emails. I don't like to assume anyone would do this intentionally, but it sure looks possible.

J, I met him several years ago at a 2 Cylinder Expo in Waterloo (if its who I think it is, been a while) where I gave a couple electrical related plus one legal Seminar, and he was a polite congenial fellow, we still e mail time to time. He let us all use his command post as a meeting place and gents like Shorty Dear (since passed away) and Gerald Johnson and H Man and some others had a great time. For what its worth, I liked the gentleman. (its been a while my memory is a lil cloudly however lol)

I too have heard no bad comments about him. His handle on the Rummy board is JD2CYLBUYER. I have included a link to his website below...

I have not done business with Brian, but have heard nothing but good about him. He seems to frequent the j0hnnyp0pper board under the handle "2cylinderbuyer" or some variation of that. I can't remember exactly. You may want to look over there as you should be able to email him from his user profile.

Don't know the person but your deal sounds suspect to me...I haven't heard of UPS loosing packages. Damaging packages, yes but not loosing as their tracking is second to none.

UPS might be #1 in package shipping, and they may have the best record in the business, but that doesn't make them perfect.

I had some parts shipped a few months back, from a reputable mail order house. They were shipped on a monday, and scheduled for wed. delivery. When thy didn't show up by friday, I started calling UPS and the shipper. UPS told both me and the shipper that the parts had been delivered. After a few terse words, it was determined that they were declared "undeliverable" after 2 attempts, because of a torn box. At that point, the shipper requested a location where they could be picked up. UPS couldn't find the box. The shipper sent me another box, with different parts. 5 days later, the first box shows up at my shop. Not the first sign of damage to the box. The driver explained that the package was in his truck when the transmission failed a week earlier. It was supposed to be put on another truck. When he got his regular truck back from repairs, the package was STILL in his truck.

I'm sure this isn't standard operating proceedure, but "stuff" happens. People cover their tails when they make mistakes.

(2 weeks after the SECOND box arrived, a UPS rep contacted me about filing an insuance claim for the lost shipment. They still had no idea where it was. I had already shipped it back to the place where I bought the parts....Via Fed Ex!)

I don't have any problems with UPS, but it seems odd that UPS is late with the replacement of something that FedEx lost. Some people on my end have their doubts that the item was ever sent.

That may well be true in your case. I wasn't commenting on that, as much as replying to the comment that UPS didn't make mistakes. They do. So does everyone. I hope you resolve your problem. Just do yourself and the person you bought your parts from, and reserve judgement untill after you speak with him. You might be the one with egg on your face before it's all over.
