Hi
Have my first jd product. I have a couple of tractors that are a different color that I have restored/repaired but had the chance to buy this LU sn 3627 from a trusted friend of my dad's. Last owner reports it ran when he bought it 7-8 years ago. First, don't know the year. Is this a Hercules motor? So far no spark, had the Wico 909 apart and don't really see anything bad that sticks outs. Points are gapped right and clean, plugs are good with nice color. Checked the coil and read 8.4 ohms. Wires are fair, cap and rotor fair. Disconnected the kill switch which reads no continuity (looks like it is stuck open) Can read ohms with cap on. Cleaned up all connections but no sparkies. Motor turns over and can hear the mag clicking consistently. Is there a way to bench test?
I'm willing to spend some $ on it provided it looks like it's going to run. Sheet metal is poor but all there. Appears to be missing only the air cleaner and muffler Anyone want a pix let me know
Thanks
John in Illinois

I have what i think is a LUH power unit. it has the model L sheet metal with a 540 pto shaft with a hand clutch. Sounds like you should try a new condenser in the mag.
