What is a rough guess on how many 60s had power steering?

Serial number charts (if you can believe them) show somewhere in the range of 6027XXX to 6028XXX as the starting number for 1954. The reported date for introduction of power steering is 1954. The 60 Parts Catalog PC244 shows serial number 6037000 as the start of power steering so if approximately 60,000 total were made and every one after serial number 6037000 were equipped with power steering, then the max that could have power steering would be 60,000 -37,000 = 23,000. 23,000/60,000 = 38.3% A more realistic guess would say 30 to 35 % were power steering equipped from the factory.

Makes since when you look at it that way. I drove two as a kid in school in 1957 and both had PS. One of my classmate's dad had one that also had PS. Those were the only three I recall around here then so I thought the numbers would be higher. Guess I just got lucky.

I would say this option was added late 53 or 54 so I would say about 20-30 percent had PS.

Out of the 61,000 built I would GUESS 80-85%. Had PS been offered starting with the first 60 I would guess it would be more like 95%.
