Using the pully brake to stop the pully truning - this causes the motor to pull/work. The tractor pulled a 9 foot no till drill today without any problem. The drill was not all the way in the down. The clutch seems to be holding. One thing the trt has a lot of loader hour usage. Before opening up the clutch - looking for possible causes.

Joe,

Mike is correct in that it is possible to cause the clutch to re-engage again by pulling back too far on the clutch lever. The Pully Brake should stop the pully fairly quickly after the clutch snaps out and prevent you from pulling back too far on the clutch lever.

If the clutch does not slip when pulling a load, and it "snaps" in and out crisply then I'd think your clutch is probably alright and the pully brake pad has worn a bit and requires adjustment.

Best of luck,
John

Both answers were right on on the money. It was out of adjustment as much as 1/8 inch. JD owner without a PC so this is long distance phone work.

It could be as simple as needing to tighten up your pulley brake adjustment a little. If that lever has to move too far from neutral to engage the pulley brake it will also pinch the back facing causing it to start driving again.
