My bad news is that I broke the center steering arm a few years ago and the braze has let go. I have found the replacement part but to install I need to drop the axle and the only way is to remove the pivot shaft. The hex nut has broken about 1/4 inch up in the cast and now I'm in a hell of a mess. If I can get the hex nut removed ( a big if) is there a reasonable chance the pivot shaft will slide out or is it likely to be a real challenge to get out? Thanks

This is from my 320U.

Remove axle.
get the nut off - cut one side with a cold chisel until it loosens.
Then jack up the tractor lifting on the "pivot shaft". The weight of the tractor will be taken between the arm and the front casting.
Get a crowbar between the arm and the casting, and bounce it.
Mine came off on the second bounce.

Mine came apart without any problems. I replaced the shaft since it was worn so bad. I don't remember exactly how it all made but it might be easier to lift the steering box up to get the arm out.
