Where do you guys think that two cyl. John Deere tractors will end up price wise?

They seem to be a pretty decent investment in some parts of the USA.

I just saw a real junker G that was stuck with bad rubber sell in the $2,500.00 range at a auction.
Several years ago you could buy a sharp G for that.
What are the price predictions for A's, B's etc....

I think that right now excluding the rare ones most tractors plain out. The market also seems to depend on whats "hot" for awhile it was the standard models then the high crops, G's ect. I do agree with buick and deere a little, I think you'll start to see the new gens start to gain in popularity as that "Age group" starts buying them. I'm 30 and although I like the 2 bangers and have my fair share of them I like the new gens thats what I started on. The only problem is that they start getting so big its a pain to drag them to shows and storage is a issue as well, not to mention repairs, a motor in a 2 banger (say a "A") is gonna cost you probably close to $1000 all said and done BUT you rebuild a 4010 diesel and if your lucky you can get the kit for $1500 then add fuel system, machineing ect. and if you get away for $3000 you'll be lucky. Just my thoughts, nothing more

The price for old boats, Model T's, Model A's, 57 T-Birds and 57 Chevies has dropped. The middle aged guys who collected them are now seniours with no room or money to support them. Or the owners are dead and the young folk have no interest in them. The same fate awaits the old farm tractors. Even worse than old vehicles. The farm population of young/middle aged males is dropping every year.

Two cylinders are a hobby, you buy them because you have(!!) to look at, listen to or work them. If you want your money to appreciate you make an investment. In 1992 I saw styled AR's sell for $2,200 and $2,800. I turned down a BR for $3500. All were nice running tractors with decent, but weather checked tires. Since that time XOM stock has appreciated an average 13% per year. In addition it has paid a respectable dividend each year. A comparable return on those tractors would mean that they should sell for $12,000 and $17,000 in unrestored condition today. The speculators (there wasn't any guarantee they would appreciate) that bought them off from farms early by the load, brought them home and built new machine sheds to store them for 10 - 20 years probably made money.

I have been looking for a BR or a BO and a year ago I could have had any number of them for $6500.00 with electric start and lights, nice shape. This year I saw one at Polks and one at Kings go for $8100.00 and $8500.00. I say we are driving up our own prices. Where will they top out and when? That's any bodies guess. Until then, I am quite content with the 9 tractors that I have.
My 2 cents worth. Mark
