Absolutley cannot back off the 1 1/8" nut on back wheels to sandblast and repaint. I have applied heat till redhot and it won't budge. Anybody got any ideas---shall I split the nut and how do I do it?
Thanks

I hate to ask but are you turning them the proper direction?

How long of a pipe are you using?

I don't know. If you have the nut cherry red and a 6' pipe I don't know why it's not coming off. On my tractor I had no problem getting the nuts off, it was pulling the the hub off of the axle shaft that was a problem.
If you're going to try to split the nuts you may want to grind down two opposing sides to be real thin, not quite to the threads.
