Jeff,

If you don't have it fixed give me a call I think I can help. Call if you want some pointers for that LP engine. I have two of them and they can be a bugger or a joy. Now days mine are a joy. LP can and will start better than a gasser if it is set up right. The ones I got are not green. I have started my LP GMC at -50°F.

ok thanks I will hollar if we run into problems. We also have the 720 as well as an Oliver 1800 LPG and both of them run like a top. I did notice today that you can shoot a little wd-40 into the carb like starter fluid and it starts right up. Will start right up after it has run a few minutes also. It will probably be a couple of weeks before we get into it as there are more things to work on right now but I'll let you know how things turn out. _50F WOW!! I am not sure anything I have down here would crank at that temp! hehe of course in Tn when it hits +20F it is COLD!!!! LOL!

I haven't yet but I did think about the timing before. However there is another one tht we need to get going sooner so tht one got pulled out and I will get back to it in a week or so. I have an 1800 Oliver on LP and it was timed really high with I got it and was hard to start also. Set it back down and it is fine so I am going ot try that first. What I did do when we moved it ou was get it started then after I got it in the shed turned it off and waited about a minute and restarted it. Cranked right up that time. I have been shutting the gas off and letting it run out but I think it starts better if I just shut it down then turn it off. I'll keep you posted though. Thanks for the ideas!

My problem with timing was I did an engine overhaul on a newly acquired tractor...no experience with it.

Reading the I&T manual it said to set the timing to TDC and ..... ..... ..... ...

Later it had one obscure sentence that said: Now set the timing to 25 BTDC. I missed that. Had 2 of the finest deere mechanics in the area, including one supervisor who worked up the ranks, (and me) totally buffaloed as to why it didn't want to start. No one suspected a timing problem. It really caused me some serious misery before I stumbled across it.
