The classic may or may not be "correct" but for sure it can't hold a candle to the "AG Green" for appearence. The Ag green is so much brighter and higher luster. Classic looks dull and blah no matter who or how it's applied compared to AG Green.

I have several Dubuque tractors and crawlers. I would paint it Classic Green. Paints aren't the same as they were in the 50's (no lead), so you will not get a perfect match. I have a friend who took a part, protected from weathering to Dupont store and had them mix a color to match. While a good idea, that color just didn't look right. Maybe because no one paints that color and we are accustomed to seeing Classic Green. Just my opinion and everybody has one.

I collect and restore the Dubuque series tractors and you cannot go wrong with the Deere Clasic paints for them. I occasionally paint other Deeres and I use the classic paint for all the 2 cylinders. A general rule that I follow is that anthing including implements up to the new generation time is painted CLASSIC, For New Generation I use the newer paints. STAY AWAY FROM THE FARM STORE PAINTS

I painted mine, a 1955, 2 years ago. Everyone I asked said to use classic green. I was told that the new green was used beginning in 1956.

The original tractor seemed darker.
