A friend of mine recently bought a JD 1010 industrial that looks like this one:
third party image
I found a serial number tag on the engine that read: Model HC145G Serial 145G-4H. On the loader that read: Model 710 Serial 2506.

According to the WeirdDeere website, the tractor he has is a 1010 Landscape Loader, but the serial numbers do not correspond at all to anything on the list. There is no serial number plate on the rear that we can find.

Several questions, what year is it? How rare is it (how many were made)? Why can"t the local JD dealer (Ag) supply parts, they refer him to an industrial dealer? He wanted a dang key, they said nope, can"t liability - so he asked for a key for a 4010 - they said ok. Go figure?
Both dealers he has worked with has not been able to find out anything about those serial numbers.

What kind of engine? Is it a continental? Anything you can tell me is a huge bonus. He paid $5k for this (nice shape, runs good), he thinks he got robbed, I think he got a good deal.
Thanks in advance!
Jay

I have a 1010 industrial with a #710 loader. I think thats what you have. What is on the back of the tractor a 3-point or not. MIne has a #50 backhoe attatchment on it. A very handy little beast as you call it.

This one has a 3-pt. Any clue as to how many were built?

OK, my internet connection is finally working right!

One of the notable parts on the Landscape loader is the grill guard. Here are a few photos, does the guard look like this:

Your pictures aren't showing up for me, but as I said to Pete, it does have a grill guard. Apparently it's hard to find much out about this beast, it must be fairly rare?

Ok - didn't know that - but I do know that his grill has a brush guard that does not look like an add-on. Do you have any other help for me?

The main loader frame on a 1010 loader runs full length. Back to the rear axle while sloping down towards the tractor's front to rear..

He's not going to find anything about those numbers, because they are from an engine from a 45 Combine. Evidently, at some time in the past, somebody's done an engine swap. Without the original engine, or the tag from it, there is no way to know exactly what the tractor is.

We do know it's a 1010 industrial - it's the year we are unsure of. Well, that and a zillion other things, lol.

The year will be from 61-65. Buy a 1010 parts book, and order parts by part number, don't tell the idiot dealer what you are putting them on. If he can't sell the part, it will come up on his parts screen "not in contract" and then he can't sell it to you, if it does not, he can. There are a lot of 1010's out there that are not industrial, and they will have most of the same parts.

Yea, that's what he's been doing so far. I sure like that cute little beast that he's got.
