I have taken several of the wheels off. The easiest way if you haven't already got it is to have a second person help. Put a bar between the hup and the housing and pull it fairly hard to put pressure against the wheel. Take a sledge hammer and give the end of the axle a good rap and usually the wheel will pop right off.I take the outer hub off and any pins, washers, etc off first. The wheel is a splined, tapered affair.

Jim,Seems the last time I worked on my plow wheels ,all that holds the wheel on was a pin with an adjustable washer. You may have to rotate the wheel as you are sliding it off the axel so the clutch dogs aren't grabbing .Hope this helps. Ron Mn.

Jim, This seems to be the most asked question about these clutch lift plows. Put the pin back in and use a large puller or a jack against the end of the axle. Hook the jaws or a chain carefully to the hub, try not to hook the spokes, then put some pressure(tension) on the pulling device and using a block of hard wood and a large hammer just thump the back side (inside) of the hub. When it pops apart you will see how simple it is, it just doesn't look that way when it is all together. It may take a few hits just try not to damage the spokes. Bob

Thanks for the help. Now leaving the pin in would that mean the whole axil would come out also? can you tell the purpose of leaving the pin in thanks

I guess it doesn't really matter whether the pin is in or not, the point is that it does not need to be removed because the wheel box is not the part you are trying to remove. The pin holds the collar used to adjust "end play" and you want to pop the wheel off the tapered ribs on the wheel box ( or bearing.) I'm guessing by now you have it apart and see how it works, sorry I'm slow getting back to you. Bob
