Hey ive got to put a oil pump coupler in my B its a 39 model. I know i need the coupler and a new oil pump gasket thats the correct thickness. Im wondering exactly what has to be done to change the coupler im assuming pulling the bottom off the pump then pulling all the lines loose a dropping it down enough to change the coupler. Any help is appreciated. thank chris

I am rebuilding a B of the same era. The entire pump housing is held in place with 3 1/2" nuts. The cover plate that opens up to the pump gears has 4 3/8" bolts.

You can replace the coupling by removing the 4 3/8" bolts. There will be two gears one idler and one drive gear. The drive gear has a long shaft. The coupling attachs to the top.

Like old said the best way is to remove the top access plate. Drop the drive gear down a couple of inches and slip the coupling in place. Be sure to fish out the old broken coupling.

If you want to remove the entire pump to clean the crankcase then you will need to remove one oil line from the top of the pump that sends oil to the filter/pressure regulator.

Hope this helps and makes sense!

Jason

Pull the top plate where you add oil and also pull the bottom plate for the pump. You will not need to pull any lines loose its a little tricky but not to bad a job
