Right in the middle of hay season and 3-point is acting up. I use this tractor to move and stack my round bales with a sissor lift on the 3-point. Some of the facts: Tss with Hi-Lo. Have had this tractor for 7 years. Has 4600 hrs. 3-point has been slowly developing to this problem for the last year. Starting to sag overnight and now in just an hour it will lower itself when tractor is parked. Last night it started to making hyd. noises while moving bales. Jerky motion when in the raised position with a bale on the spear. Affecting the steering when this happens. Also making noise at the front pump. Hi-lo works like it should. Screen was cleaned last year and all new hy-gard fluid since I bought tractor. This is not from lack of maintainence as fluids and filters are changed regularly. Engine seems to be under a load when this is acting up. Does not do this constantly but every other bale or more often. No problem is experienced when there is nothing on the 3-point lift. Also affects the use of the scv or vise versa. I need a JD mechanic to help me here as my next stop is dealer shop $$$$??? Hope some of you have the answer for me as I know there is a big knowledge base on this board. Thanks all.

not a regular to this board, BUT, try checking the huydraulic pump. sounds to me like it just dosent have enough pressure to do what you want it to, and liftin round bales isnt all that difficult. we do it with a 36 horse cub cadet on the loader
hope this helps

No it lifts them just fine. Problem is all the noise and jerky motion and 3-point reacts to movement of the scv controling the hyd. cylinder. Going to shop on Monday and have them test the system with guages to help isolate the problem.

Jim,remove hyd.filler cap, look through hole with aid of light and if you see oil spraying in fine mist the rockshaft valves are leaking.Tx Jim

Jim,
I just went and checked and saw no fine mist but instead more like droplets, almost a stream of oil. This slows down during 3-point lifting. Also seen that scv and sagged off about 4" on cylinder overnight.

Thanks Jim,
Is this with a load on 3-point or anytime tractor is running?

Jim,seeing mist is slight leak which is bad, seeing stream is major leak which is worse. In dealer shop I always checked with no load on 3pt but load would probably make leak worse. The rockshaft will have to come off and control valves looked at.One thing I forgot is check valve clearance before r-shaft removal.Valves could be to tight.Tx Jim
