Are there any major differences in the 4555, 4755, 4955, 4560, 4760, 4960 vs. models like the 4250, 4450, 4650, 4850, 4255 and 4455? Did the 45, 47, and 49 have any weak points?

The 4555 is the small case tractor. Some of the early 15 speed Power Shifts had problems, but I would say that 99 per cent of these PIPs were performed on these tractors. If there are any current problems, they would stem from the fact of age/hours vs use and abuse, instead of some design flaw.

One thing, don't be surprized if you see a low houred 60 series that's been overhauled. Deere had a problem with the piston rings that caused high oil consumption. These were the early models, but then they didn't make alot of them anyway. You also need to see if there was anything done with the aircleaner, there was a change with them do to the air filter getting plugged shortly in dusty conditions. I worked for a dealer and overhauled a couple with the ring problem and just heard of the air cleaner problem after a friends tractor ate to much dirt this spring. chris
