I have a JD3010D. Basically runs like a champ, however lately it seems to take 3 or 4 minutes of warming up before the hydraulics/Power Steering work.

I am new to this game and learning how to fix things, but have never done more than change fluids in the 3010.

Does this sound serious?

While you have the oil drained, removed the elbow by the filter that connects to the large steel line that runs up to the main hydraulic pump. Then go to your nearest JD dealer and ask them to install a check valve in there to help with your problem. This was a service bulletin years ago to fix your problem of no hydraulics at startup. There is a check valve internally that is failing(letting the oil drain back to the rearend instead of saying in the cooler) and this is a great fix for it. The check valve is out of the main hydraulic pump of utility tractors. The part number is like L71016 I think. The bulletin with tell you how to install it in the elbow or just have the dealer do it. chris

Morning Joe;The first thing I would do is change the hydrualic fluid and filter. There is also a cleanable type screen filter that you need to service at the time you change the fluid and filter. It's a good idea and very helpful to have at least an owners manual if you don't already have one. There are several things that could cause the trouble you are having but you want to start with the simple things first and work from there.Remember that the clutch pedal needs to be out for the transmission pump to supply oil to the main hydraulic pump.Let us know how you come out.Good luck. Kenny
