Purchased a mower with a bad engine/trans. Is the combo rebuildable or is it more sensible to just replace the assembly. Where is the best place to look for a unit short of the Deere dealer? Thank you in advance for any help.

Jim

Yikes! You can't buy the complete assembly anymore. You will have to rebuild it. The main reason most of these fail is from not changing the oil every 25 hours like it says. What is actually bad on yours?

So far it looks like the main damage is the two pumps. Plan to replace both of them and replace the rod and rings. All else disassembled so far looks good.

P.S According to the dealer the engine/transaxle is available for $3000.
