I have a JD M tractor that I am working on. It has the hood and grill, but it was missing the 1/4 turn fasteners and receptacles that hold it to the tractor. According to the parts catalog, there are different length fasteners and 2 types of receptacles used. But I can't find where the floating and fixed receptacles are mounted. Are the three that are used in the grill the floating type of receptacles? And, is this where the longer fasteners are used? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Gary

I have recently purchased a '60 JD430 and am in the process of restoration. How do I remove the fasteners prior to painting? I believe to be original, these are not painted?

Gary, I have never worked on an M and do not have the parts book for one. But I have worked on plenty of 40-420-430 models, and they have the floating receptacles and longer pins at the center of the hood and the left battery box door, the rest of the fastners and receptacles are the non-floating type. The reason for the center ones to float is that the gas tank bracket has a little movement where it bolts to the housing.
