Jeff, its a lot easier to turn a Wico C Mag into a distributor (i.e. external battery powered coil) then a Wico X, cuz you have that coil wire connection right there in front of you which isnt available on the Wico X. Therefore, my best guess is you have a Wico C right?????

Regardless, they were originally connected top tower to left cylinder n bottom to right but the Wico C or X (direct drive NON gear reduction) if installed 180 out of time work if the wires are reversed. NOT TRUE on reduction gear mags like Wico AP and some Fairbanks.

The diagram Frank posted is for the dual rotor tipped Wico X mag, the Wico C just uses a single tip rotor.

Connect/time it so the tower leading to the left cylinder fires at its TDC (When flywheels Left Hand Impulse mark is at 3 o clock) and then 180 degrees later the tower to the right cylinder fires on its TDC.
