Have a good running 1947 John Deere "D" but it has one problem when I pull the clutch lever I get end play chatter very noisy. Different settings don't help I can't figure it out so Im hoping someone on this forum can help. Thanks in advance.
John, Canada

John, Your D should have 5-10 thousandths slack in crankshaft end play on the flywheel side. Sounds like you may have some clutch problems and need to pull it off for inspection. Maybe some broke discs or worn parts? I&T JD-4 repair manual covers the styled D. Pull the clutch apart and let us know what you find.
