Got my new(1974)4230 delivered yesterday about 8:30 pm. This morning I tried it out moving some round hay bales. It has a power shift and everything worked fine, but the power shift was a little tough to get in and out of park. When I parked it on a slight incline with the front downhill, I broke the shift lever trying to get it out of park. I only pushed steady with one arm and I'm not THAT strong. Tne new lever will be in tomorrow but I don't want to break it too.
How can I get it out of park without breaking anything? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
3 cyl

Your old lever was likey fatigued and tired. It is unlikely you will have problems with the new one.

To add to what Bob said, you will probably want to lube the shift cables real good when replacing the shift lever.

Thanks for your replies. I ended up chaining it to my truck and blocking the wheels so it wouldn't roll over me and tapped down on the lever on the side of the trans that engages the internal parking mechanism. It popped right out of park.
