Are the cast iron center wheels for a 38AR or earlier the same as the ones used for a 47AR? The reason I ask is I have rims on my 47AR now that are flat across from lip to lip of the rim. These rims are rusted out and pretty much useless. The ones I'm buying have a ridge in the center of the rim and I'm not sure they will fit with my center hub in it.

What size do you have on it now and what size are the ones you're buying? Probably wrong ones. 38 AR should have had 24" rims and 47 AR should have had 26" rims. Take a look in a parts catalog PC-674 covering unstyled A,AR,AO and it shows 4 different cast centers and 4 different rims by part number and casting numbers. Sounds like you are looking at 24" when you need 26".

Glen,

Thanks for responding. The tires on the rims I'm looking at now say 13 x 26. The tires on the rims I'm thinking about buying say 13 x 26 also. However, the only difference is there's a ridge or raised crown in the center of the rims I'm thinking about buying but not on the ones I have now. It really looks like the only difference is this crown and how the cast iron wheel fits in it. The only problem is the wheels I'm thinking about buying are in Iowa and I'm in Tennessee.

I'm just not sure then if they would fit or not? The same 26" center was used on both unstyled and styled ARs except the later styled ones used a different center for 14 or 15-26 tires. Parts book shows 2 rims for unstyled AR for 11-26 and 12-26 looking flat but with some raised dimples. Maybe the rim style just changed? You might repost for Duane Larson and see if he knows.

Glen,

Thanks again for your help. I did post this same message on the johnnypopper.com website as well. Duane responded to that posting. I might carry the center hub and see if it will fit in the rims, but I'm having my doubts.

Well, that sounds like the smart thing to do taking the center along with you. I haven't found any other info or anyone else that knows for sure. We got a 1950 AR and it has the cast centers and 13-26 tires on it. I was wanting to put the wider tires on it but found out I have to change centers and rims so probably just stay with 14.9-26 tires. Good luck.
