Grandpa and I are going to a BIG auction at and equipment dealer near Thorntown, IN. (some of you guys have probably heard of it and are going). Anyways, there is a 60 narrow front advertised in good working condition. I saw it from the road as I drove by once and the paint isn't anything special, but original trators are cool. Any idea on the value and/or other auction prices would be appreciated.

Thanks

I bought a 60 with new rubber, overhauled engine, and new paint for $2200 in August.

Most 60's seem to go in the $1800-$2500 range. Tires will make a difference on the high or low end of the price range.

I must have taken a beating then... I bought a 1956 model 60 in Jan 2005 with 3pt, power steering, model 45 loader, spare hydraulic pump, and tire chains for $3360 off of Ebay. Tractors runs great, but does not have live PTO which is fine with me. It has decent rear rubber, about 75 percent. The front's weren't shot, but I replaced them because of the loader. The tin was very nice with only a couple dings in the nose. The paint is original and probably about a 3 out of 10. It needed some minor work, but runs strong and solid. You just can't go wrong with the 2 cyl JD.

My 60 pulls an 84 inch finish mower in thick grass in 2 nd gear like it isn't even there.

Tom, I wouldn't say you took a beating. With the extras you got you are in the ballpark. I only gave the prices I see in ads here and elsewhere. There are a lot of 60's worth more and a lot worth less. Just tried to get him in the ballpark. Untill you can see and hear the tractor the price is hard to put on one. I drove two different 60's as a kid in the late 50's. Loved the 60. If you think you paid to much check out ebay item number 7560440940. This is at least the fourth time it has run on there.
