I’ve got a 2510 diesel sn 0015XXR. Looks like it’s starting to weep coolant into the oil, and I’m planning to put piston and liner kits in it; the tractor runs like a champ otherwise. Does anyone know the bottom line on putting the 2520 piston and liner kits in? Part numbers etc? What would be the best thing or things to do for the money? Thanks, Scott

We had the 2520 upgrades done to a 2510 engine and liked it much better. Some parts you order from JD may be sub. to 2520 parts anyway. If you do it get some manuals for it. That engine has to be timed right. If changing it also put in the 2520 balancer shafts. I still have some like new 2510 tech manuals.

i would fix what needs fixing, i have removed sleeve and piston assembly in one chunk and replace just the orings. That was the only thing wrong, your tractor doesn't have the best set up for sleeve orings, it's. the way there made. run it threw JD shop and they will throw away your good parts and sell you new ones and insist you needed them when all you needed was orings Don't let anybody say you can't do it,NUTS.you can change parts just like anybody else if you will fallow instructions , go for it and good luck.
there is plenty of guys here that can give you advice that do this kind of work every day
