Has anyone ever used an engine kit made by TISCO? I’m thinking about putting an in-frame overhaul kit into my 2510. (see previous post) I wonder about the quality, especially that of the cylinder seals.

Thanks,

Scott

I just put a Reliance engine kit in a 2755. I got the kit through a local machine shop. The kit included main and rod bearings, bushings for the balancer shafts and conecting rods, bolts for the rods, front and rear main seals, complet gasket set, and sleeves and pistons with pins and circlips. They had 2 kits the one i used was about $580. They had a premium kit with better rings for about $750. The pistons came loaded in the sleeves in that one, just like the JD sleeves. The JD kit was around $950. I have used a few of these kits and have always had good luck with them. I heard at one time TRW made all of JD's piston kits.

Gas or Diesel? If diesel I would go with the JD parts for sure. Like others said you will get what you pay for in a engine kit. If that engine has any vibration now it will still have that after a in frame overhaul unless cam bearings and balancer shaft bearings and shafts are changed out. If very low hours it might be ok?

I put one in a t035 Massey. Wouldn't do it in my own. You get what you pay for in an overhaul set. I'm not Saying you have to buy from JD Just buy a kit with good brand names in it.

I guess if you are wondering...there is your answer. If it were me even if I were selling it I would go genuine JD. Keep the receipts of all work done for future info if you plan on selling it.
