I post this about every Veterans Day to say thanks to all who served or are serving now to protect freedom. It"s from an e mail I received a few years back and I remember the old saying " All gave some, some gave all"

Thanks n God Bless all Veterans out there. John T Nordhoff in Indiana, proud father of a US Marine

John T,

Many thanks for the kind words. I grew up in Martinsville, am a Purdue Grad (Ag Education, '66 and '74), and completed 30+ years Active Duty in the Army. Now live in Lebanon, TN and looking forward to the next retirement! From the beginnings on the dairy farm there in Martinsville, still love the farm and guess I always will! As the old FFA Creed started "I believe in the future of farming with a faith born not of words, but of deeds" Sorta stuck! I follow most of the postings in here thank you for you for sharing your experience. I love our 1950 G and you and JD Clooney really could write a book!

God Bless you and all the Antique Tractor Gang!

Steve

No words I can give will adequately show my appreciation to those who have served, fought, and died for my country.

I will always remember the sacrifices that were made so I could enjoy the life I have now.

Today at noon I walked into a Ponderosa (sp) steak house and the sign on the counter said. All veterans eat free today 4 to close. After eating I looked up the manager a young women of about 30 or so. Of course she was a little leary of a patron wanting to see the manager. I said that this old Vietnam Marine wanted to thank her for her gesture to our veterans. Although I wasn't there at 4 pm she offered to buy my dinner which I declined. When I left she had tears in her eyes and said God Bless You. Sure made my veterans day as never before.

What a difference thirty some years makes! Back then we wouldn't wear our uniforms to those places because we would be targets for abuse. Verbal, glareing that kind of thing.

What a nice thing to do John. It really makes you much more observant of Veterans Day, when you, your son, or daughter, have participated.

John those few words say a volume. All of us who served and made it back are the true lucky ones who understand/ realize the great sacrifice of those who gave their all, so we could live in this great country today.
