Perhaps y'all can help me. Please see my previous post on the leaky cylinder liners in my 2510. My JD dealer is having difficulty identifying a cylinder liner set that will fit my tractor. It has the earlier T 23406T block that everyone seems to agree had the earlier style liner seals originally. Will the newer style liner work in my block, or do I have to use the earlier one?

Thanks,

Scott

Tractor dealers aren't what they used to be. There is nothing complicated here. You've got the one-o-ring block. Later blocks are machined to take three. Your original sleeve only got sealed with one o-ring and those sleeves haven't been made in 30 years. The replacement sleeve for your block has the additonal o-ring grooves on the sleeve to retrofit into your block. The newer sleeves for the newer three o-ring blocks will NOT fit your block. You can buy the correct sleeves right on this website for your tractor. (John Deere) Sleeve & Piston Kit - For 2510 Diesel with block #'s T23406,
T24961 & T26933 Only. 4 Cylinder, 202 CID. One set used per engine. Kit
includes: Sleeves - 2 grooves on sleeve, 3 ring pistons & rings, 1-3-16 O.D.
pins & retainers, for 3.86" Std bore. (Part No: PK451)

Liner kits "used to" come with installation instructions that would tell you to chamfer the block at bottom of water jacket where packing set to except new liner packings that they furnished with liner kits. Might want to talk to dealer tech to see if you will need to perform this procedure. Good Luck, DW

There is a substitution in the liner part numbers, so I would guess that the older ones are replaced with a newer number. Have them order in one and compare it to an old one as far as sealing area.
