Thanks for the info in SM 2024 for carbs. Another question for SM 2000 June 1952. This is for trt engines and mags and etc. Looking for feed back on its worth for usage.

Joe, The SM2000 is not really needed unless doing your own head work or you have electrical test and repair equipment or can afford it and just want it. Go for the other JD SM manuals first like the SM2024 Carburetors, SM2029 Electrical (mags, starters, generators, wiring diagrams, spec charts, application charts), SM2011 Hydraulic, SM2050 Power Steering. Those cover 2 cylinder tractors. The SM2000 Engines & General is okay if you can afford it later and it applies to the 2 cylinders. It has chapters on general shop tools use and safety. About 12 pages on valve and valve seat reconditioning, valve specifications, valve spring measurements for A - M tractors. An electrical chapter that repeats much of the SM2029 stuff but has more extensive test info on starters and generators and briefly covers mags also. The electrical chapter makes up most of the manual but most of the specs won't apply unless you have extensive test equipment to use with the charts. Has a carburetor chapter too. The other manuals give a more in depth coverage of the carburetors and electrical for most repairs.

The SM2000 electrical chapter does NOT have any wiring diagrams.

Very good on the SM information and contents. Took note of the numbers and contents. What is your idea of pricy?

Add up the costs if you bought all the manuals on paper now days... pricy. lol. Then you want nice binders to keep the paper manuals in also. Use to could buy JD binders but I'm not sure now? Not so bad on CD and then you can print off pages of what you want to take out shop while working and get it dirty and throw away. Add CD to the end of manual numbers for pricing them like that, example, SM2029CD. Most of my paper manuals at one time cost a few dollars, $5,$10, $15 but they have gone up since then like everything else.
